New Disney Movie With The Rock In It! The something I love about moving into Los Angeles will be the number of revival houses and single screen movie theaters you can still check out. I'm not talking about your multiplexes which can be playing the most up-to-date Hollywood blockbusters, I'm discussing those historic theatres that play in the classic movies we loved watching if we were we were young. Many of these films we first watched on tv or rented them on VHS from the local video stores (back when they existed), but we never got to see them around the big screen where they belonged. But because of places like New Beverly Cinema, the Egyptian Theatre and Grauman's Chinese among other movie theatres, we finally get to see them the way they were can be seen.
Now I know lots of people who today would prefer to curl up for the sofa and watch movies in the home, however, these cult movies need to be seen for the big screen if you are ever in Los Angeles.
"The Rocky Horror Picture Show"
This musical comedy horror cult classic which stars Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick plus the great Tim Curry being a "sweet transvestite from Transsexual, Transylvania" will be the longest-running midnight movie of them all. Thirty-eight years after "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" came out, will still be playing in limited release and midnight screenings keep going on all over America. However, you've not lived until you have seen this movie in the Nuart Theatre in Santa Monica where audience members can wear their superheroes and talk time for the screen in a way they couldn't if it were every other movie. Fans with the Nuart go for treated to some live performance from Sins O' The Flesh, a gaggle of actors that perform combined with movie every Saturday night. You can always trust having a most fantastic time whenever you watch this movie in the Nuart!
"The Room"
The 2003 romantic drama that has been written, produced, directed and stars Tommy "YOU'RE TEARING ME APART LISA!" Wiseau may be called one of several worst films ever made, as well as the fans still can't get enough of it. Every Los Angeles screening I have experienced of John Carpenter's martial arts comedy has always ended in a sold out audience. Thanks to home video, "Big Trouble in Little China" gained a tremendous cult following, and audiences adore it today you might say that you wished they did back when it first arrived on the scene. It's such a kick to view this film with an audience as they are in hysterics over Kurt Russell delivering his dialogue having an unapologetic John Wayne swagger, and that we have long since accepted the belief that his character of Jack Burton is much more of a blowhard compared to a hero. It doesn't matter how many times you have experienced this movie; "Big Trouble in Little China" continues to be a blast to see through.
