Best Comedy Movies Pg 13! The something I love about moving into Los Angeles is the number of revival houses and single screen cinemas you can still visit. I'm not speaking about your multiplexes which are playing the most recent Hollywood blockbusters, I'm referring to those historic cinemas that take part in the classic movies we loved watching when we were maturing. Many of these films we first watched in the news or rented them on VHS from my local video stores (back when they existed), but we never reached see them around the big screen where they belonged. But because of places like New Beverly Cinema, the Egyptian Theatre and Grauman's Chinese among other movie theatres, we finally get to see them the way they were intended as seen.
Now I know lots of people who currently would prefer to curl up for the sofa watching movies in your own home, however these cult movies should be seen for the big screen if you're ever in Los Angeles.
"The Rocky Horror Picture Show"
This musical comedy horror cult classic which stars Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick plus the great Tim Curry as a "sweet transvestite from Transsexual, Transylvania" could be the longest-running midnight movie of all time. Thirty-eight years after "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" came out, will still be playing in limited release and midnight screenings keep occurring all over America. However, you've not lived in anticipation of having seen this movie with the Nuart Theatre in Santa Monica where audience members can be their favorite characters and talk time for the screen in ways they couldn't if the were another movie. Fans at the Nuart also get treated to your live performance from Sins O' The Flesh, a gaggle of actors that perform combined with movie every Saturday night. "The Room"
The 2003 romantic drama that was written, produced, directed and stars Tommy "YOU'RE TEARING ME APART LISA!" Wiseau has been called among the worst films ever made, along with the fans still can't get enough of it. "The Room" continues to sell out midnight screenings with the Regent Theatre in Los Angeles, and you can always depend on Wiseau being there to do a Q&A session with all the fans. Audience members come dressed as their favorite characters, one scene has them throwing plastic spoons on the screen, they will toss footballs to one another during the movie, and they yell out insults about the undeniably bad quality of the film. There are so many things wrong with "The Room," but it is so enjoyable to watch having an audience.
"The Big Lebowski"
Joel and Ethan Coen followed up their masterpiece "Fargo" with this particular dark comedy starring Jeff Bridges as Jeff "The Dude" Lebowski. The movie would have been a box office disappointment, however it has since garnered one of many biggest and strangest cult followings associated with a movie ever made thanks to the main character's unapologetically relaxed attitude. Screenings of "The Big Lebowski" is available at various Los Angeles movie theatres, but the real treat for fans happens when the Lebowski Fest involves town. Thanks to home video, "Big Trouble in Little China" gained a huge cult following, and audiences like it today in such a way that you wished they did back when it first arrived on the scene. It's this type of kick to observe this film with the audience because they are in hysterics over Kurt Russell delivering his dialogue with the unapologetic John Wayne swagger, so we have long since accepted the fact his character of Jack Burton is much more of a blowhard than the usual hero. It doesn't matter how many times you have experienced this movie; "Big Trouble in Little China" remains a blast to determine through.
