List Of Comedy Movies For 2009! Your Thanksgiving free movie list is merely two movies long, but what movies! Unlike Halloween (that I offered you a list of 100 free scary movies here), Thanksgiving requires a different twist. Neither more likely to be specific to Thanksgiving, nevertheless they relate to some themes of the holiday. Frankly, I can enjoy these free movies for Thanksgiving or any day with the year.

Big oil company propaganda which has a heart! Just the free movie we require for Thanksgiving! This 78-minute semi-documentary from 1948 is one of the most lyrical American films available. In 1994, The Louisiana Story was selected for preservation within the United States National Film Registry with the Library of Congress to be "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant." It is the story of a Cajun boy and his awesome family, living for the bayous you might say of life we can barely imagine.
The boy's family rents land towards the oil company, which comes in, drills, and instead gives off everything the same as it was, clean and unspoiled except that the family features a little more money. (Yes, it absolutely was funded through the Standard Oil Company.)
The boy spends most of his time on his narrow boat (pirogue), floating over the bayous, prime snake and alligator habitat, along with his pet raccoon. He never wears a life preserver or shoes... doesn't also have a cell phone to call in case he gets struggling. There is not much story, simply a celebration (in these stunning black and white photography that you may well wonder exactly what the big deal is around color) of the way of life that's no longer along with us.
All in the actors were amateurs, as well as for most, this is their only film. As of April 2007, J.C. Boudreaux, who totally boy, was moving into a FEMA trailer with his wife of fifty-five years, after Hurricane Rita destroyed their property. (source). A black and white silent film that ends with a woman being burned alive? Oh, yes, exactly what every family needs at Thanksgiving. But, I have three reasons for including The Passion of Joan of Arc on this pair of free movies for Thanksgiving.
First, I am thankful that The Passion of Joan of Arc was ever made. Second, I am thankful that The Passion of Joan of Arc was preserved. The director Carl Theodor Dreyer (more) died convinced that the last copy ended up destroyed. In a little weirdness that sounds similar to a movie than the truth, an almost complete print was discovered in 1981 in a very janitor's closet of a Norwegian mental institution.
Finally, I am grateful we can watch this magnificent film, on many lists from the greatest films of all time, totally free online at Gloria.tv, a Roman Catholic video site.
Maria Falconetti (more), who plays Joan, suffered a psychological breakdown through the making with this film, and he or she never made another film. Pauline Kael (more), a notoriously demanding film critic, declared Falconetti's performance "may function as the finest performance ever documented on film."

I will add that a film that deals using a person who had such strong beliefs - and accepted the consequences - is a very appropriate film for Thanksgiving... or every day.
